WLG SMS Marketing Policy
Last updated: June 2026
Who we are
Wild Life Group ("WLG"), including Yorkshire Wildlife Park Limited, is the data controller responsible for any SMS communications sent to you. Our contact details and full privacy policy can be found at yorkshirewildlifepark.com/privacy.
What this policy covers
This policy explains how WLG collects, uses and manages your mobile telephone number for the purpose of sending you SMS (text message) marketing communications. It should be read alongside our main Privacy Policy.
Your consent
We will only send you marketing SMS messages if you have given us your clear, specific and freely given consent to do so. This means you will have actively opted in — for example by ticking an opt-in box on our website, at point of booking, via our app, or at an in-park sign-up point.
We do not rely on soft opt-in or implied consent for SMS marketing. Pre-ticked boxes or bundled consent are not used.
When you opt in, we record the date and time of your consent, the method by which consent was given, and the wording of the consent statement you agreed to. This record is retained for the duration of your marketing relationship with us and for a reasonable period thereafter in case of query or complaint.
What we send
SMS messages from WLG may include news and updates about Yorkshire Wildlife Park, HEX Wildlife Hotel and The Yorkshire Hive, information about upcoming events including Wild Live concerts and seasonal events, exclusive member and subscriber offers, and ticket and booking reminders where relevant. We aim to keep SMS frequency reasonable and will not contact you more often than is necessary to keep you meaningfully informed.
Who sends our messages
Messages will be sent from Yorkshire Wildlife Park or a clearly identified WLG brand. We may use a third-party SMS platform to deliver messages on our behalf. Any such provider acts as a data processor under a written agreement and may only use your data for the purposes we specify. We do not sell your mobile number to third parties or share it for their own marketing use.
How to opt out
You can withdraw your consent and stop receiving SMS messages from us at any time. Every marketing SMS we send will include a clear opt-out instruction, for example reply STOP to unsubscribe.
You can also opt out by emailing [[email protected]], writing to us at the address below, or updating your preferences in your online account at bookings.yorkshirewildlifepark.com.
Once you opt out we will process your request promptly and no further marketing SMS messages will be sent. Please allow up to five working days for this to take effect. Opting out of marketing SMS does not affect transactional messages related to an active booking, such as confirmation or entry reminders, which are sent on a contractual basis.
Your data and your rights
Your mobile number is held securely in accordance with our main Privacy Policy. You have the right to access, correct, restrict or request deletion of your personal data. Full details of your rights and how to exercise them are set out at yorkshirewildlifepark.com/privacy.
Children
We do not knowingly send marketing SMS messages to individuals under the age of 16.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version will always be available at yorkshirewildlifepark.com/privacy or on request.
